A silent morning.
A moment with no demands.
Yes, all of those are helpful to your quiet time.
But those were not the source of peace.
Then I realized:
Peace isn’t something you find. It’s something you make room for.
You don’t need a mountain cabin to meet with God.
You just need a small, consistent space—physically and mentally—where your soul can exhale.
Jesus regularly withdrew to quiet places, but He also prayed in crowds, boats, gardens, and storms.
Peace and quiet matter.
But so does your intention to create them.
So, create them by asking God who can give you peace that transcends all understanding.
How to Create a Quiet Place—Even in a Noisy House
Here are 5 easy steps on how you can create a quiet space where you can give your 100% in your devotion time with God.
1. Choose one spot—and return to it daily
Pick a chair, corner, or counter space.
It doesn’t have to be fancy.
It doesn’t have to be a room.
Just a space where you can consistently go back daily.
Just make it yours—and let it tell your heart: this is holy ground.
Even Jesus had regular “certain places” to pray.
2. Build a personal signal to mark sacred time
Light a candle.
Play an instrumental worship playlist.
Open a specific journal.
Give your mind a cue that says:
“Now, we slow down.”
This is called habit-linking.
It trains your body and brain to associate simple actions with stillness and spiritual focus.
Now, there’s no magic, enchantment, or whatever.
You are just creating a habit that will trigger your brain to focus on your devotion time.
3. Ask for peace, don’t just wait for it
Peace isn’t the absence of noise.
It’s the presence of God in the middle of it.
Say this out loud as you begin:
“God, meet me here. Quiet my soul—even if the world isn’t quiet yet.”
Over time, your heart will learn to settle faster.
4. Invite stillness—even if it’s short
One minute of quiet is better than twenty minutes of distracted activity.
Turn off your phone notifications.
Close your laptop.
Let silence stretch longer than it’s comfortable.
That’s when you’ll begin to hear again.

5. Expect interruption—but protect return
